Stunning Sights
New Mills is located above a natural rocky gorge called the Torrs, where the river Sett and the river Goyt merge.
The Torrs Riverside Park includes old ruins, rock faces for climbing enthusiast, The Millennium Walkway and links up to the Peak Forest Canal as well as The Sett Valley Trail which forms part of The Pennine Way.
Stepping up from the gorge, New Mills is surrounded by spectacular views over the surrounding hills and countryside, with Kinder Scout dominating part of the skyline landscape. The locality also benefits from many beautiful walks with one being a riverside walk, steeped in history, including old ruins, multiple stone and wooden bridges, and rock faces for climbing enthusiasts.
The Peak Forest Canal starts in the neighbouring village of Buxworth at their basin (then jutting off into Whaley Bridge Basin), passing through New Mills and onto Marple. It is here at Marple Locks where a magnificent sight is to be seen of 16 working locks closing a gap between 209 ft and 518 ft above sea level. From here the Peak Forest Canal eventually links up Manchester City Centre. The canal played an important role in the industrial history and evolution of New Mills.

Transport Links
The town offers two train stations, the Manchester Buxton Line is situated at the top end of New Mills, Newtown and offers a regular service and has car parking facilities. The New Mills central line from Manchester to Sheffield is situated off one of the main streets in the town centre. Both stations are within walking distance of the majority of the town.
