Local Need For Affordable Housing?

On the 30th July 2024 The outline planning application for upto 42 affordable homes in Bridgemont is going to a Hearing infront of The Planning Inspectorate to review the application and hopefully overturn High Peak Planning Departments refusal. You can find the links to the recently refused planning application which has all the proposed drawings, reports and comments, and upto date housing need report and hearing statements. Along with a link to the Planning Inspectorate Case where you can make a representation and have your say. The hearing is also open for members of public to attend. We are trying to deliver to the local area these much needed affordable homes for those with a local connection/ need, both for sale and to rent but we need your support as despite the support already shown locally and the strong support and acknowledgement from Whaley Bridge Town Council that these affordable homes are very much needed in perpetuity, the authouthorities planning department and planning committee feel otherwise and refused the application for a second time. Detailed reason for refusal can be found on the outline application link.

Further Information

This is for an outline application of upto 42 affordable homes, the finer details will be agreed at reserved matters (ie, how many will have how many bedrooms, proportion of sale:rent etc). Links below for further information and to make a representation and have your voice heard

  • Housing Statement
UPDATE: We feel its a great loss to Whaley Bridge and the Central Area having not achieved outline planning permission for this scheme which would have been 100% affordable homes for sale and rent which had a housing association on board for providing these much needed homes. You can still register your interest or support for the need of this type of housing to meet the local needs/demand via the contact us link.
